Create Short Reading and Pre-Writing Exercises - Step 3

Your goal is to assist your students to develop a thesis based on the specified connections among the writers.

Possible method:

  • Instruct students to submit (via email or hardcopy to your box) copies of working thesis statements that compare two of the writers, explaining why the comparison matters; discuss the merits of a couple of good student thesis statements to your class (either photocopied or on the overhead or board); ask students to swap and offer feedback on one another’s thesis statements for about 10 minutes; have students revise their own thesis statements accordingly in class or at home.
